Dear All,

This is to inform you that, we are organizing course on “Sensory Integration and Self-Regulation:  Examining the Evidence and Applications to Autism”

Course Objectives: Upon completion of the course the participants will

1.      Review sensory integration theory and self-regulation literature

2.      Discuss the interaction between sensory processing, self-regulation and praxis

3.      Understand when to refer for an occupational therapy evaluation and intervention with a sensory focus

4.      Identify intervention strategies that address these difficulties. 

Content will be presented through lectures, videos. (Interactive Learning)

Details of the course are as follows

About The speaker: Susanne Smith Roley is an occupational therapist, who has specialized in applying the theory of sensory integration in pediatrics for over 25 years. She obtained her BS in OT at Indiana University and her MS in Allied Health Sciences at Boston University. Following her formal training she had the privilege to study under Dr. A. Jean Ayres through the 4-month clinical training program at the University of Southern California (USC). Susanne is on staff at the University of Southern California as the Project Director for the Comprehensive Program in Sensory Integration. She is the Coordinator of Education and Research at Pediatric Therapy Network and is in private practice in Orange County in Southern California. She is a past chair of the Sensory Integration Special Interest Section and a contributing author of the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework as past member of the Commission on Practice for AOTA. She is an internationally recognized author and lecturer on the theory and application of sensory integration. She is co-editor of the book, Understanding the Nature of Sensory Integration with Diverse Populations.
